How to Clean a Bamboo Steamer
The Importance Of Cleaning A Bamboo Steamer:
A bamboo steamer is entirely organic and natural, because of this the steam used to cook food often can get a bit stuck, leaving behind parts of food. In order for it to be kept clean and hygienic, it’s crucial to clean it after each use, so it feels brand new! But don’t worry we go through the steps on how to clean a bamboo steamer correctly.
Before Use:
It’s important to note that before using a new bamboo steamer, you must soak the bottom layer (only the rim that comes into contact with the wok or pan) in water for 30 minutes. This easy step prevents it from scorching or burning.
Step One, on how to clean a bamboo steamer
After use, place the bamboo steamer in medium to hot water in the sink (fully submerged). This allows for any remnants of food to become unstuck and kills off bacteria. No longer than 5 minutes, as you will damage the steamer.
Step Two:
Using dish soap and a soft wet cloth, lightly rub the area with the food. Continue this until all food is off.
Step Three:
Rise off all dish soap and place on a dry kitchen towel. This allows for most of the water to drip off.
Step Four:
With a dry kitchen towel wipe away all water drops and place in a cool, dry place. Let it sit for 24 hours before next use.

- Step 4 is the is the most important step because If not dried properly the steamer will rot.
- Never put a bamboo Steamer in the dishwasher! This will cause it to loose its shape and the lid won’t fit on top anymore.
